What is Glean?
Glean is a powerful tool designed to streamline your workspace by making information easily accessible. It allows you to search across various data sources, share knowledge with your team, and leverage advanced features for complex workflows.
In addition, Glean provides secure generative AI capabilities, similar to your organization's own dedicated ChatGPT or Bard, but securely trained on your organization's data. This means you don't need to worry about sensitive company data making its way outside the organization.

As an administrator, you play a crucial role in setting up Glean for your organization. This guide will walk you through the process, providing step-by-step instructions for each stage of the setup.

Overview
Here's a brief overview of what you can expect as part of the setup process:

Stage 1: Build
- Access the Admin UI: You will learn how to access the Glean Admin User Interface, where you will manage the Glean workspace for your company.
- Prepare your Environment: If you are deploying Glean to your own GCP or AWS environment, you will prepare the environment for the build of the Glean infrastructure.
Stage 2: Setup

Setup Single Sign-On (SSO): You will set up SSO to ensure secure access to your Glean workspace.

Sync People Data: You will learn how to sync people data, ensuring that your team's information is up-to-date in Glean.

Connect Datasources: You will connect Glean to various data sources, enabling your team to search across all your work applications.
Stage 3: Learn
- Crawling & Learning: At this stage, your datasources will be crawled by Glean, and Machine Learning (M/L) will take place to train the Glean search algorithm on your company's content.
- Populate Content: While your content is being crawled, you will add Announcements, Answers, Collections, Verifications, and Go Links to ensure that your users have a great first experience with Glean.
Stage 4: Deploy
- Setup Glean Assistant: You will learn how to set up Glean Assistant: your organization's own personal ChatGPT/Gemini.
- Customize your Workspace: You will customize your Glean environment to ensure it fits with the look and feel of your company's branding.
- Deploy the Glean Apps: You will deploy the Glean Browser Extension to your company's managed devices.
- Deploy to Users: The time has come to go live and open Glean to your initial batch of users.
